IE tab with firefox 2-keeping history?ies

I don't understand what's your problem ; its a very straightforward extension

You just have to click Tools %26gt;Add-ons %26gt; Extensions %26gt; click on IE tab extension %26gt; click options . Now in the URL, enter http://sitename.com and click 'add'. now click 'ok' to close to box. From now on, always sitename.com will open with IE's engine . If you don't want to enter any URL there, then you can also click the mozilla firefox icon in the bottom right of the window to switch to the IE rendering engine for the page you're viewing after installing this extension.

Go to the IE tab's homepage to find out more: http://ietab.mozdev.org/

Don't forget to click on the 'screenshots' link on the page. It shows various options through which you can configure the IE tab extension.

Yes. I had the same problem, it does not take too long to re-download them though, as and when they are needed. It's still only in beta testing, but I'm using firefox at the mo because I cant ask questions on IE7, it wont show the category's properly.
i had no such problem.

i don't know why
I had no such problem..wonder why? Anyways an alternative that you could use is the MSN toolbar. You can use that with your IE 6 and it supports tabbed browsing too!!!

As everyone else pointed out IT IS A BETA, so you could wait till the full release!
I did not have that problem although that may be because I have Macromedia Flash MX 2004 the paid for version.

June attack on IE?

I've been reading in several places whispers about a coming June attack on Microcrap's IE. Funny story:

I have extremely good security on my computer. I rarely use IE; only when I absolutely have to (some sites required for my business only accept IE) otherwise, I use Firefox. I ran a scan with my SpyOnThis, and it found 70 items, most of them being in the high to extremely high threat range. I found on inspection of these 70 items that MOST of them were connected to IE/ActiveXcontrols/blah blah.

Considering that I have my cache and cookies dumped automatically every hour, run one antispyware every hour on auto, and two other programs manually about every two hours, have a very good anti-virus that scans every 24 hours (full system check), run my Crap Cleaner once a day, etc. would you say that there is an attack going on? I've never, EVER had that many high-end objects show up during a scan, and I ran IE ONCE last night.

Anyone else showing up a lot of junk on their scans?

First, your Firefox browser isn't any safer than IE. The only reason you didn't get infections using it, is because, few people used it and the bad guys didn't waste their time and efforts on it. Now that more people are using it, they have found the weak links in it and are now infecting computers through firefox.

I use IE6, and since I learned about the different types of Malware, and how to protect my computer, I've had no infections in 5 months. Since you are being infected your protection isn't that good.

You need to get rid of the infections first. Go here and run the online scan and let it remove anything it finds and lists. Before running this download the latest version of Java here. Then remove any previous versions.

If any infections remain then go here and follw the procedure and run the AS programs she lists.

Here is a package that will protect your computer and is all Free!

Make sure your computer is set up for AutoUpdate for Microsoft/Windows Updates. Use Automatic Updates.

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupd...

Firewall - If you have Windows XP with the SP2 then use the Firewall supplied with it. It is excellent. If not then use:

Zone Alarm Free version.

Anti-Virus - AVG 7.1 Free or AVAST Free. Both are excellent and better than most you pay for. Use only one AV program.

Anti-Spy - Windows Defender Beta 2, Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy, AdAware SE Personal. If you use the Yahoo Toolbar with AS, continue to use it. If not, I recommed, downloading the toolbar and using the AS. It is the eTrust Pest Patro AS program and is excellent.

The Windows Defender and Yahoo AS will be the only two AS that run all the time. Spybot and AdAware will be used for scans only.

All the AV/AS and Zone Alarm can be downloaded here.

http://www.filehippo.com/

This next program will work with your AV and AS programs and stop infections before they get a chance to install. It will find stuff already on and help remove it automatically. It will also protect against infected Email attachments. Do Not use as stand alone protection.

http://www.novatix.com/Home.aspx

This next program will alert you to sites that could or will infect you. They have tested many sites and have rated them and will give you a color warning.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/

I use an eTrust AV program and the Windows Firewall. Everything else listed here I use. No infection in 5 months.

I installed this exact package on my neighbors computer 3 months ago and he hasn't been infected. He likes to download Porn and free games.

from what I hear it gives alot of false positives
SpyOnThis is considered a "rogue/suspect "anti-spyware program that has been known to use false positives as a goad to purchase the product. Have a look here:

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti...

Scroll down to SpyOnThis.

Spybot Search and Destroy is a far better solution....plus it is free!

Spyware is in the eye of the beholder.

One persons spyware is another persons legitimate marketing tool is another persons software functionality enhancement.

I too, run all of the protection that is feasible (feasible = cheap or free + convenient) and try to keep away from the worst of the web's offerings.

As far as an IE attack, I think you answered the question. IE is under attack every day. My daily scans turn up about 30 new cookies.

IE 7 problem?

When i save a web page, and open it offline(after disconnecting the net), the page is not opening. It is showing some error message and the saved page is not opening. There was no problem opening saved page using IE 6. Think this problem exists only in IE 7 .Need a solution for this.

Scrap IE7 and use Firefox.

IE 7 problem?windows media player internet explorer

Refer to your "GREEK" manual.
This problem will likely depend on the page you are saving. If it is a flat HTML file, there should be no problems saving the file in either browser.

If the site has certain elements which require live calls to the website's database (AJAX, javascript, etc), there may be problems unreleated to the browser you are using.
I had IE 7 it was always causing problems, I uninstalled it and returned to IE 6. Or use Firefox.

A difference in IE and Mozilla. IE stinks!!?

I have my own site http://www.kruxialflicks.com when I edit i preview in Mozilla and it ALWAYS look like the editing page. however when i preview with IE theres always something messed up.

For instance, go to my site www.kruxialflicks.com and look at the enter page with mozilla and IE. The mozilla version is fine but when looking with IE you see white lines. Also i have tables that are centered. In mozilla its fine, but in IE they arent centered but to the left. How can I fix all these things?

A difference in IE and Mozilla. IE stinks!!?microsoft works

There are fundemental differences in MANY Browsers which effect the outputed pages appearance.

Learn to write Acurate html code, and these will all but dissappear.

If that's "Beyond your Effort Budget" Download an Evaluation copy of DreamWeaver. It had Cross Browser patching built in.

FYI: Internet Explorer IS a Mozilla based Browser !

I Didn't say Firefox. I Said Mozilla.

A difference in IE and Mozilla. IE stinks!!?windows mobile internet explorer

I check it out it looks great on my IE but I am runnin the IE7 beta.
There are free validators online which can analyze your website to look for problems. Some web page designs look better in Mozilla and others look better in IE.

IE wasn't based on Mozilla Firefox, it was based on a design by Mosaic, which later became Mozilla and developed the Firefox browser.

How do I get IE & to close down when I click the X button at top right.?

Our PC crashed last weekend. We had IE 7, Windows XP and we uploaded Norton Security 2008 - and boom - we lost almost everything. 24 hours later we found it all saved as a backup. (WHEW).

Now whenever I open IE7 browser, I cannot get the first window to close - it just goes to a blank page and literally freezes the computer.

All the tabs work fine and close fine, as do other pages if I open a second and third window. They all close properly.

I usually have to do a ctrl-alt-del to remove that first window, and then I get that damned blue and gray report - IE is not working - send to MS so they can help.

I always click dont send - I am not sending my personal details to MS.

How can I fix the IE browser.

And please dont tell me to use firefox or something else, I am well aware they are available, but right now IE is easier. Or at least it was.

Thanks

It's your ram that is corrupt.

It's a fairly cheap thing to replace.

The only fuss there is to select the right ram.

DDR, DDR2, DDR3, newer computers have DDR4

If it continues to crash, just hit "CTRL+ALT+DEL",

A task manager will appear. Go to "processes".

Find a process called "iexplore".

click on it, then select "end process".

It'll close down internet explorer

I'd say, go ahead and download firefox.

www.getfirefox.com

It's not easier.

It's just a learning curve.

To be honest, I'd remove Norton. It's hurts your system more than it repairs it.

Takes up too much system resources, takes up too much space and it's costs too much.

Free anti-virus are in most cases even better than lousy Norton!

reinstall (uninstall then install again)
I had this. I got it changing pages, or sometimes just opening IE. MS said it depended on the site. I had to format the hard drive and reload everything. I was told it's related to a problem with Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine. Something to do with losing their license. They originally said IE wouldn't work after December, but mine does now. Removing and reinstalling IE did me no good. I suspect the deal is the new versions of IE (both 6 and 7) have the Sun Microsystem Java, or something along those lines. It looks like MS has taken down their knowledge base documents. They were pretty good.Good Luck!

In IE if i hv two sites open n close one, IE closes too and have reopen IE and any earlier work is l

This is most likely caused by a browser "add-on" These are things that you add to your browser like toolbars.

Here is what I did to fix the problem:

Click on "tools" and then click on "manage add-ons" then select "enable or disable add-ons"

On the next screen disable ALL of your add-ons then close IE down completely. Reopen IE and then open a few websites. then try closing one. If your browser stays open then go back to your add-ons and enable them one at a time.

Note that each time you enable an add-on you will have to close your browser completely for the change to take affect.

Depending on how many add-ons you have this could take a little time but once you find the one that is causing the problem you can keep it disabled and then your browser should work fine.
Does this happen with any other applications? If so, I would not rule out the possibility that this is hardware related instead of software -- sounds like you could have a corrupted stick of RAM in your computer.

Do as the previous poster suggested and get the upgrade to IE7 -- it should replace any corrupted files and fix the issue. If it doesn't, look into your hardware.
