I'm fairly new (6 months) to CSS and am noticing that IE treats things like padding fairly different than FF. I've also noticed that the indenting of unordered lists is wonky. Are there a set of hacks available that will bring this in check? It is very frustrating.

CSS IE Hacks?microsoft works

Good question! Two sites that seem useful are http://positioniseverything.net/explorer... and http://css.nu/pointers/bugs-ie.html - they both seem to have good descriptions and workarounds.
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-39075326553083040112010-04-24T20:47:00.000-07:002010-04-24T20:47:00.032-07:00Is anyone having trouble with IE 7 after updating to YM 8?
I was having trouble with IE premature closings, and lockup when I tried to close IE. By disabling "Yahoo IE Service Button"; "Yahoo IE Suggest" ; and "Yahoo Services" in the browser, (Tools; Manage Add Ons: Enable or Disable Add Ons), it resolved the problem. With any one of these add ons Enabled, I still had the same problem. Hope this info may help if any experience the same/or other problems.

Is anyone having trouble with IE 7 after updating to YM 8?microsoft office 2003

This happened to me and just reinstalling isnt goin to make all of it work properly ...you need to turn off your firewall , redownload the yahoo messenger..once download is complete sign in to your messenger and then turn your firewall back on. When I open another explorer window and go to google (or any site) and start typing in my query, then the first window will come up, unless it is minimized on the toolbar. Has anybody experienced this before ? I notice this does not happen with Mozilla. Is this a bug in IE explorer ?

Microsoft IE?windows messenger

its IE thats doing this. Hex Variables used in many versions of windows that were released without the new verion of windows have a tenticy to confuse header requests with other windows, bringing them up if the are in the cache, like when they are open. Once they are in the RAM (minimised) this problem wont happen. Other browsers that are written in Visual Basic, like maxthon will have this problem as well, but if it [the browser] made out of a different language or configures the headers differently, then it will work fine. Mozilla is written in c++

Microsoft IE?microsoft works internet explorer

can't say i have ... something's fishy there.
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-64753566192023516542010-04-24T20:44:00.003-07:002010-04-24T20:44:54.361-07:00My IE 7 under Vista loads up very slowly, runs slow, slow keystrokes. I've turned off add ons.
None of my other browsers on my machine (Vista box) exhibit these same behaviors. Someone suggested I take off google toolbar but in two other machines I have (an XP and yet another Vista machine) I have google toolbar and my IE 7 works just fine. I don't have any viruses or spyware that I know of because this machine has Norton and I scan regularly. I don't think it's sys resoures as I have 3GB RAM %26amp; Intel quad core @2.4GHz. I'm just seeing who agrees with my point.

People say IE lacks in features, and that mozilla firefox doesn't, but really those people aren't up to date. Using IE 6 still!

IE has most of the things they say it doesn't!

http://www.xulplanet.com/ndeakin/arts/re...

So from a non developer point of view, IE 7 is just almost good as FireFox.

I actually prefer FireFox, because of about:config.

People always aggro about the most used systems, or most used anythings!

The people who complain about windows are too dumb to know how to use it, none the less linux!(Linux is much more complicated than windows.Only used by 3.3%)

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browse...

I think its simple, people need to get their facts straight before they bash MS, IE7, WMP, etc.

What do you think? Agree, disagree?

Don't flame.

I'm on Ubuntu Linux with kde, Firefox, Wine installed, and everything completely set up.

FireFox And IE?microsoft xp

need to agree. Ie is updated and is secured too.Firefox actually loading slow on me.I like Ie because it loads up fast the only prob i get with ie is that it crashes me sometimes but that could also be my system.Thats why i made my own client http://browser.yahworld.com .Firefox is good with linux but same problem with the loading. I still would say Firefox is a bit better. So my rate is from 1 - 10 FIREFOX:8 IE7.xx:7.5 ! - Fact for me is there is no super browser out there. Learn to use it and you will love it . See ya

FireFox And IE?download windows xp internet explorer

Well I see things this way. IE 6 is so old that is it useless. IE 7.0 is so unstable that it is useless. FF runs but has interface issues and doesn't render certain bits of CSS properly. Opera is stable, fast, secure, and renders according to the W3C standards so it works PROPERLY!!!!.

Opera for me works great even on a machine with insufficient memory to run windows properly half the time.
I am a fan of FireFox, it is the only thing I will use. I don't like IE v6 or v. They have done a lot of upgrades to IE v7 but I still think it doesn't compare to FireFox.

Windows is falling apart specially since VISTA came out, they are trying to push people to spending a lot of money on WINDOWS products. So but, of course WINDOWS is going to get trashed.
You know they say you judge a book by its cover. Bashing Linux or Bashing Windows is senseless. Both operating systems have their good points and bad points. I've already converted three computers back to windows xp because of the windows vista downfall and people don't like it.

I use Fire Fox by choice because it is faster and doesn't stall out when loading up web pages. Anything made by Microsoft I don't trust, not to be spying on the user. I only have a windows computer to do things Linux woun't do because of lack of comparable software
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-33633579271357057682010-04-24T20:43:00.003-07:002010-04-24T20:43:49.789-07:00Mozilla and IE problem, help ASAP please?
Ok. Their is no way to disable this and you can not delete it because it is emebeded in the os and hidden in hidden folders i have found it but can only read it. i have read forums on some hacking site that use remote password and email stealling software to suck your info out of this file. I know it is not safe and i want to know if any one knows how to make it safe or disable it. What do any of you thin of this. I checked my file after i have disable all loging and history tracing in ie and deleted all private data then checked this file and it has histor from when i first installed my os. and the first sites i ever went on. i think this is ridiculous and should be taken care of this shows how dumb microsoft is.

I have just learned that ie store info that i cant delet that i dont want it to. how do i uninstall ie.?microsoft excel

You can't fully uninstall IE from Windows XP / 2000 / NT. It won't line up properly, the size of the cell is completely diferent in IE and I can't get rid of the tags because it's form tags "hidden tags" so I can't get rid of them.

What can I do to remedy this problem so my tables surrounding the "Add to Cart" button doesn't go off center, out of shape (length changes from what I have in Dreamweaver). Everything looks great in Firefox but IE is a mess.

Firefox loves Dreamweaver apparently, but considering IE is used more than anything, it's a huge concern to have those pages look great.

Why is IE not picking up my Dreamweaver tables properly when adding a PayPal "Add to Cart" button?windows xp home

Adding a PayPal Add to cart button shouldn't have anything to do with your problem (just my guess). What you're facing is a form/tables issue with IE.

IE is notorious for not conforming to HTML or CSS standards, especially IE5/Win.

When you set up your form, the best way to keep all your fields and labels neat and legible is to use a table. If your table is breaking, it may be the way it was set up. If you have set the padding of cells as well as the table width and the calculations don't add up, that can mess up the layout of your form table. Are you nesting tables? Don't.

Keep your table simple. Don't specify table or cell heights because they won't work. Try to keep the table to two columns maximum. Your PayPal button should just show up as a clickable image, nothing more. The hidden fields in your PayPal button are necessary and will not affect the size of the button or any surrounding elements on the page.

Just troubleshoot the table, not the button. Good luck.
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-87686159233561234162010-04-24T20:41:00.002-07:002010-04-24T20:41:45.408-07:00Switched from IE to firefox?
I`m useing vista. Toolbar for IE and Tabs?
I recently asked how to open a standard set of websites via tabs on Yahoo! for IE and one user suggested that when Iclose Internet Explorer, Iwill be asked whether you want to close all tabs. When the prompt appears, click Show Options, select Open these the next time I use Internet Explorer, and then click Close Tabs. When I reopen Internet Explorer the tabs will be restored. Problem is when I click close, the option to "Show Options" does not appear. Also, when I click a link, is there any way I can have IE open up another tab vs. an additional IE window?

Yahoo! Toolbar for IE and Tabs?microsoft.com

To see the options menu for tabbing, go to the Tools menu, then click on "Internet Options" Under the "General" section, at the bottom, you can change your settings for tabs.

Now, as for opening webpages in different tabs instead of different windows... When you want to open a link, RIGHT-CLICK on it. Then a menu should pop up and the second option from the top is "Open in New Tab" Click on that, and the page will open in a new tab!
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-20164522293076048092010-04-24T20:41:00.000-07:002010-04-24T20:41:11.370-07:00How to revert to IE 6 after IE 7 has been loaded?
Pl. help. If that doesn't work just keep looking through the download section till you find it, good luck!

There site is at microsoft.com
You can use this program to install previous versions of IE alongside IE7 without affecting your IE7 installation. It's free. http://tredosoft.com/IE7_standalone
You could try using System Restore to revert back to a restore point made before IE7 had been installed. I've done this today, not just because of IE7, I'm now back on IE6, but to restore a rather confused C drive ( I can't resist in messing about!). Always set a restore point before making changes or downloading stuff.
do what geeks quad says /ive just done it and im back to ie6
kathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02269926582268741900noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1733501792872750430.post-85459873479166321252010-04-24T20:40:00.002-07:002010-04-24T20:40:55.967-07:00Problem with ie sp2 ie has encountered a problem and needs to close?
ie has encountered a problem and needs to close

every time i try to open ie this happens i try spybot and adware no luck. i also tried installing ie 7 no luck, so i removed ( not a big fan of it) i researched the mircosoft page it said to call them. this is what i get when i click here

error signature:

appname: iexplore Appver: 6.0.2900.2180 modname: unknown modver:o.o.o.o offset aa009cb6

Problem with ie sp2 ie has encountered a problem and needs to close?windows vista ultimate

All Microsoft sites requires Internet Explorer and sometimes Active X (which only IE uses) to function correctly.
